What is Maktab?
Maktab (also known as Mekteb) is an Islamic educational program designed to teach children the foundations of Islam in a structured, nurturing, and age‑appropriate environment. It focuses on building strong Islamic identity through learning the Qur’an, basic Islamic knowledge, good character (akhlaq), and love for Allah ﷻ and His Messenger ﷺ.
Maktab is often a child’s first formal step in Islamic education. It complements what is taught at home by providing guidance, consistency, and a sense of belonging within the wider Muslim community.
Why is Maktab important?
In today’s fast‑paced world, it is more important than ever for children to have a strong moral and spiritual foundation. Maktab plays a vital role in:
Teaching children how to read and recite the Qur’an correctly
Introducing essential Islamic beliefs, practices, and manners

Strengthening their connection to the masjid and the Muslim community

1. When and where can I enroll my child?

2. When does Mekteb start and finish?Mekteb follows the regular school year calendar and takes place on Saturdays. During winter time, classes run from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and during summer time, they run from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

3. Are classes conducted separately for boys and girls?No, classes are conducted in a mixed setting with both boys and girls learning together.

4. Are the teachers male or female?The teaching staff is mixed, including both male and female teachers.

5. Is there an afternoon class available?Yes, an afternoon class is available from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM every Saturday.

6. What are the Mekteb fees?Mekteb is free for active members of the centre. For non-members, the fee is $200 per family.
Mekteb Fees
The Mekteb fee is $200 per family, which is the same as the annual mosque membership. We strongly encourage families to opt for the annual membership, as it provides a wide range of additional benefits beyond Mekteb.
